When I Say I Think Of You

I admit it is not every waking moment
you are the center of
what what I am doing.
There are times when I focus
on the dog or tying my shoe.
I have been able to walk without
tripping and haven’t stubbed a toe
for some time now.  I can still
dress myself without help.
Yesterday I drove my truck and
did again this morning.
In the store, decisions
about salad dressing and
aluminum foil often come easily.
At times food even has flavor,
and my foot taps to certain songs.

When I say I think of you
it just doesn’t say enough.
You are there in parts of days
when golden hours won’t come,
as clouds remain because
they can’t make up their minds
who they are or what they
want to do with their lives.

I want to paint them with sunshine
in a room with two windows in a corner.
There I will create good light
to see forever, then stay.
