The Jaguar

It was lent to me
From the jaguar’s eyes
Met in a turning glance;
And in her walk – her shoulders –
Before me, like spades traversing earth.

This, the corporeal unsheathed edge
Extending my reach –
This, the rapier accrued to me,
Wheeled high overhead.
