Night Vision

As if peering in a droplet
of water,
Positioned on a backdrop of diamonds.
The sanctity of night.
Quietly viewing the splendor
Of a mountain village,
cloaked in piñon and ponderosa pine.
The pace and rhythm of the stoplight,
the vehicles winding their way
through the mountain roads,
as if protozoas swimming
on their way home.
The deep blue sky reveals
the origin of the species,
Creating a nocturnal afterglow
in a lyrical light.
