LIVE POETRY NIGHT AT ZELE CAFE SUTRA

gotta be a need
like the Mississippi’s
for the Gulf of Mexico
a bleedin need, a deep need

words explode in the brain
all night long, answers in flames
fragments of a song

gotta be a need
a bleedin need, a deep need
poets don’t let it fade away
renegade and remade
the voices of Aspen
burnin bright, light a way
through the culture’s dreary dreamless state

sounds of poets
praise and vibrate
off the snowy slopes of Ajax
to communicate and celebrate

words born of breath and throat
the holler and the moan
a fix for the soul
for those who call the mountains home

gotta get into it
let yourself into it
gotta be a need
a bleedin need, a deep need

a poetry symphony, many graceful notes
some words subtle, some that float
mojo words and phat rhymes
rockin the house in the bosom of opulence
with the words of our times

as the world rocks chaos
here the self falls open
words start flowin

when the word is spoken
rifs are revealin
poets waken us
in the music-soaked air
poets with the guts to play
no one here is broken, all the words are welcome
just another symptom that there’s freedom in the air

voices of Aspen, renegade and remade
for everyone in particular
gotta be a need
a bleedin need, a deep need
let yourself into it
explosions in the brain
answers in flames
fragments of a song, all night long
in the voices of Aspen
at the Zele Cafe
